Cherry Tree Lodge

ECC Scotland

Friday 13th to Sunday 15th October 2017

Saline, Dunfermline, Fife KY12 9TA

View of Ochil Hills from Cherry Tree Lodge

This is an open invitation to existing and new ECC members to come to bonnie Scotland to gather and relax with your brothers around a roaring fire at Cherry Tree Lodge for a weekend of connection, collaboration and community in the spirit of the Edward Carpenter Community. A weekend of wholesome food, spacious accommodation and stunning views of the Ochils range, in the heart of Scotland, with a “fru-fru” of activities to choose from.

For those who are new to ECC, an event has a basic spacious framework which is illustrated below. The participants contribute what they can and want in the way of a session that facilitates connection with self, others and the natural environment and traditonally offer an hour per day either in the kitchen or around the house or on the land.

Activities so far include

  • Walk through the Fife countryside to the National Trust Village of Culross (film location for Outlander) with coffee and cake at the Biscuit Café
  • Movement Meditation of the Four Directions
  • Five Rhythms
  • Tap into your creativity in the Art studio
  • Big Screen showing of ‘Undertow’ or another film that you brought along or found in our video library
  • Walking tour of Cherry Tree Lodge, where we share the vision, explore the nature trail and discover the labyrinth
  • Storytelling evening with nationally celebrated Celtic story teller Beverly Bryant
  • Preparing food and running the space together
  • John Tyler is offering up an art session “Home is where the heart is”
  • or just chill out. You might want to join it all or you might want to do your own thing at times.

You might have an idea about sharing your talents, interests or facilitating a workshop. Let us know beforehand and we’ll support you in making it happen. … The Gentlemen’s Lounge weekend at Cherry Tree Lodge is your oyster.

Extending your stay

You might want to arrive a day or two earlier and put your feet up or explore Fife and its chocolate box coastline. Arrival for the weekend is from 4pm for a cuppa, cake and to settle in. Dinner will be at 6pm followed by an Opening Circle and a ‘get to know each other’ evening. On Saturday and Sunday there will be plenty of time between the meals to choose from the basket of activities… or just to relax. There will be a closing circle just before lunch on Sunday and carriages will be at 2pm.

You might decide to extend your stay and explore Central Scotland in more detail with easy train connections between nearby Dunfermline and Edinburgh, Glasgow or the Highlands.
